Mosques, churches, and other cultural icons have been deliberately destroyed and pillaged. Massacres have been committed by artillery shells, blanket bombing (cluster and phosphorus bombs), and drone attacks. The international community, UNSC including Turkey have an obligation in stopping this regional war. I believe that the solution to this crisis begins with a UNSC resolution on the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Eritrean army and the Amhara forces from Tigray. To protect civilians from daily blanket bombings, it is also vitally important for the imposition of an immediate “No Fly Zone” over the airspace of Tigray. The above UNSC interventions coupled with verification and monitoring mechanisms can end the ongoing genocidal war in Tigray effectively.
