Driven by ethnic hate & a desire to subjugate the populace of Tigray, these forces are mercilessly killing civilians in Tigray, committing acts of gender-based violence against Tigrayan women, and imprisoning without cause ethnic Tigrayans throughout Ethiopia, many of who are currently held in camps under horrid conditions. Further, Ethiopia has disconnected telecommunications services throughout Tigray and impeded humanitarian aid convoys from entering the region – effectively intentionally creating a siege and manmade starvation of over 5.7 million Tigrayans in the dark.
The Biden Administration in tandem with the Department of State and Congress has condemned these atrocities. The U.S. federal government has repeatedly asked for hostilities to end and aid convoys be permitted to reach the now starving populace. The House of Representatives recently passed H.R. 4350 - National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2022, which included Amendment #555 introduced by Rep. Tom Malinowski (N.J. – 7th District).
